Welcome to Sasol 5th Annual Technical Teachers' Conference.
Sasol harnesses its size, position and talented workforce to catalyse a deeper and wider educational impact that contributes to growth and improved quality of life. Through its Foundation, Sasol creates an impactful change through access to quality education. The country is facing shortage of technically skilled workforce and the Department of Basic Education has committed itself to improving technical education in the country towards boosting the vocational skills pool.
Sasol uses the conference to:
- Bridge the gap between well-resourced schools and those which are not resourced as well as create a platform for discourse between education policy makers and implementers of the curriculum in the classroom.
- Open opportunities for the technical subject teachers and other educators across the country as a community of practise to share best practices. It creates an accessible network of experts in various trades which the teachers would not have been exposed to.
The 2021 Conference Theme is ‘Infusing 4IR Technologies in the teaching of technical subjects’. The virtual conference will reach more teachers than the previous four conference that were held, through face-to-face engagements.
Objectives
- Package exciting and interactive activities and engagements for teachers in the form of multimedia presentations with live videos, debates, surveys, polls, virtual awards event, social networking features and virtual exhibition of 4IR technology products for teaching and vocational training.
- Model the use of multimedia and latest technology in reaching groups of participants.
- Provide teachers an opportunity to engage and network in a well facilitated discourse and online interactive engagement on the impact of 4IR technologies in their teaching.
- Train and afford teachers an experience to walk through a virtual exhibition, engage with exhibitors and get the benefit thereof.
- Integrate the Conference theme throughout the conference activities
